P.S. High Noon (4 / 5), a 23-year-old female director's debut feature film, is a visually mesmerizing, well-cast and realistic Hong Kong movie with well developed and memorable characters. The story is about various problems faced by 9 teenagers before the HKCEE, e.g. prostitution, drugs, violence, studies, friendship, love, sex, dreams, death, etc. The blurred images remind me of a famous Japanese director 岩井俊二. In 2008, the best Hong Kong movies in my opinion are天水圍的日與夜 and 烈日當空. This movie really deserves our support! By the way, this film is a HK installment of the Eric Tsang-produced teenage film trilogy, Winds of September. The Taiwan chapter 九降風 will be released in HK on 4/12. Both films are highly recommended. It is a pity that not many Hong Kong people have heard of them. I hope I can spare some time to talk about them at the beginning of December.
